FIRST ANNUAL POETRY CONTEST

June 24 - July 17, 2020 *extended to August 1, 2020!*

Deadline to enter: August 1, 2020 at 5:00pm.*

Poems can be submitted in English or Spanish.

Poetry is expressing yourself through the power of words. 

Enter our First Annual Poetry Contest to share your poetry. Winners will receive prizes, publication in Bookends and the Madera Friends Newsletter, a Certificate of Appreciation, and the recognition and prestige that you deserve for the beautiful words you have written.

AGE CATEGORIES AND THEMES

(Themes are optional, poems may be about any topic.)

3rd - 6th Grade: Animals, Family, Friends, Sports, Science & Technology, Summer 2020, What is Happiness to You.

7th - 8th Grade: Family, Friends, Science & Technology, Summer 2020,  Justice, Happiness. 

9th - 12th Grade: Family, Friends, Life's Purpose, Freedom, Justice, Happiness, Summer 2020.

Adult (18+): Family, Life, Justice, Summer, Love. Happiness.

Each age category will have a first, second, and third place winner, for 12 total prizes.

CONTEST RULES

•         One poem per person.
•      Poems must be submitted online.
•      Poems can be submitted in English or Spanish.
  
•      Participants must be a Madera County resident. 
•      Poems must be submitted no later than August 1, 2020 at 5:00pm.  

PRIZES

•     Winners will receive a Certificate of Achievement Award.
•     Winners will have their poem published in FMCL's Newsletter Bookends & Madera Friends' August Issue.
•     Each winner will receive a gift basket of prizes (gift basket prizes to be determined).
